Plateau Of Dandakaranya
This is in the south direction of Chhattisgarh. It is the most culturally prosperous region of Chhattisgarh. The area of this area is 39060 square kilometres. It is 28.91 per cent of the total area of Chhattisgarh. The plateau extends to Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Sukma District and Mohla-Manpur Tehsil.
It is formed from Dharwad rocks.
Bastar plain is an extension of Bijapur and Sukma districts. The highest peak here is Nandi Raj (1210 m), which is located in Bailadila.
Drainage system
It is part of the Godavari drainage system. Its most prominent river in the Indravati River. Its length is 286 km. It originates from Mount Munger. It joins the Godavari river near Bhadrachalam. Its major tributaries are narangi, Shankhini-Dankini, Mungabahar, Kanger etc.
Vegetation
Tropical wet deciduous forests are found here. This area is dominated by Sal trees, hence it is called the island of Sal forest. The highest quality of tick is found here. The tick found in the Curcell Valley (Narayanpur) is the best tick in the world.
The region has Kanger Valley and Indravati National Park and is located in Pamed, Bhairamgarh and Kuturu Game Century. Project Tiger is also being operated in Indravati National Park. In the same Kanger Valley National Park, there are Kutumsar and Kailash Caves, where many types of shapes made of limestone are found.
Crocodiles are found naturally in a place called Bhaisadaraha.
Tribe
This region is extremely rich from the point of view of tribes. Here is the abode of the Abujhmadiya tribe. This tribe has been granted special backward tribe status by the Government of India. The main dance of this tribe is Kaksar.
Muria tribes inhabit this area in abundance. The young home prevalent in this tribe is called Ghotul. The main dance of Ghotul is Mandari and Ditong. It is worth mentioning that Gaidi is used in ditong dance and it is done by men.
Gaur dance is performed by the Madiya tribe.
Mineral
expand Dharwad Shell Group in this area because it is very rich in terms of minerals. High-level iron ore is found here at Bailadila, Kirandul. In addition, iron ore is to be supplied from Rawaghat(Narayanpur) to Bhilai steel plant.
Tin ore is found in Katekalyan, Bacheli, Dantewada district, Chintalnar, Govindpal in Sukma district. It is noteworthy that in India, Tin ores are excavated only in Chhattisgarh.
