The physiography of Chhattisgarh can be divided into four parts

Plateau of Eastern Baghelkhand
It is situated in the northern direction of Chhattisgarh. It is the part of the plateau of Baghelkhand which is located in Chhattisgarh. It is spread over about 21863 square kilometers of Chhattisgarh, which is about 16.67% of the total geographical area of Chhattisgarh .
This area can be divided into 5 parts from the point of view: -
Kanhar Basin
Rihand Basin
Hasdo Rampur Basin
Surguja Basin
Hill of Devgarh
ridges -
The average elevation of this area is 300 meters to 700 meters. The height of the hill of Devgarh is 1028 meters, which is the highest peak in the region.
Drainage system -
It is noteworthy that the wheels of Deogarh act as a water divider between the Ganges and the Mahanadi drainage system. Some rivers of this region such as Gopad, Banas etc. are found in the Son River, a tributary of the Ganges. But this region is mainly part of the Mahanadi drainage system. The longest river in the region is the Hasdeo river, which has a length of 176 kilometers and it joins the Mahanadi near Janjgir-Champa.
Mineralogy
This region is geologically formed from Gondwana Shale due to which coal is mainly found here. Here coal excavation is done by South East Coal Limited.
Major coal producing areas here are Manendragarh, Baikunthpur, Vishrampur, Chirmiri Jhilmili, Sonhat etc.
Soil
Red-yellow soil is found in this region.
Agriculture
Paddy is mainly cultivated in this region. Apart from this, coarse grains are also produced.
Vegetation
Tropical deciduous forests are found in this region. Guru Ghasidas, the largest national park of Chhattisgarh is located here. Tiger, reindeer, wild dogs etc. are found here.
