Non-Permanent membership of India in United Nations Security Council

India has been elected as a temporary member of the UN Security Council for the 8th time in 8 years. 193 countries of the General Assembly took part in the voting on Wednesday. 184 countries supported India. The US welcomed India's temporary membership of the Security Council.
According to the United Nations Charter, India has been elected as a temporary member for two years. Ireland, Mexico, and Norway have also been elected provisional members along with India.

It is an important part of the United Nations, it is also called the heart of the United Nations & police of the world. Its main task is to establish peace in the world. For this, it interacts with countries that threaten peace and if it does not give any result then, it can also take tough measures like economic sanctions. There are five permanent and 10non- permanent members in this council. Five are permanent members -
The United States of America,
Great Britain,
France,
Russia,
China
Why these non-permanent members?
By this process, the united nations try to maintain balance in the world and want to provide a voice from every continent in the united nations security council.
To become members of the united nations security council India needs the vote of two-third members of unsc.india got 184 votes from 193 member countries. the term of India will begin from 1 January 2021.
India is being elected as a temporary member of the Security Council for the eighth time. Prior to this, India has carried out this responsibility in 1950-51, 1967-68, 1972-73, 1977-78, 1984-85, 1991-92, and 2011-12.
